RALEIGH, N.C., October 29, 2026 — Greenlight Health Data Solutions, the exclusive licensor of IWQOL-Lite and IWQOL-Lite-CT, today announced that IWQOL-Lite-CT has become the preferred quality of life measure in obesity research. Developed by researchers at Duke University, IWQOL-Lite© and IWQOL-Lite-CT© are copyrighted, validated patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures of weight-related quality of life in adults, designed for use in research, clinical practice, and clinical trials.

More than 300,000 individuals have been assessed with the IWQOL-Lite-CT across more than 200 research organizations, and eight of the top nine obesity drug developers with a Phase 3 or approved therapy now use this measure. Available in more than 100 languages and dialects, the IWQOL-Lite-CT is useful across a broad range of regions and settings. A 2026 Clinical Obesity study validated the IWQOL-Lite-CT for observational research, so one measure can now follow a program from trials into real-world evidence and observational studies. Read the findings.

Growing adoption of the IWQOL-Lite-CT comes as obesity research continues to expand. IQVIA reports that obesity clinical trials nearly doubled over the past five years, with obesity treatment trials up 68% since 2022 and more than 124 drugs in active development.

As trials multiply, quality of life has become a critical indicator of treatment value. FDA defines clinical benefit as a positive effect on how an individual feels, functions, or survives, and its patient-focused drug development guidance sets out how to build regulatory endpoints from fit-for-purpose patient-reported outcome measures. Its January 2025 draft guidance on obesity drugs likewise recognizes such assessments as appropriate secondary endpoints.

“Weight loss tells you what happened on the scale. Quality of life tells you what it means for the person,” said Tim Horan, Chief Growth Officer, Greenlight Health Data Solutions. “When the field converges on one measure, and that measure is proven to hold up in both observational and clinical trial research, it becomes even more useful to build an evidence program around.”

Greenlight will meet with sponsors, CROs, and researchers at ObesityWeek® 2026, November 14–17, in Washington, D.C. Learn more at GreenlightHealth.com.
