Pathways to Governing AI Technologies in Healthcare

As AI technologies in healthcare grow, professionals in the field are worried about the regulations needed to support its increased use. With growing aspirations of how AI can be used to improve the patient and provider experience, regulations must be updated quickly while still investigating concerns such as privacy, safety, and biases. The Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI hosted a closed-door workshop with 55 varied professionals to discuss ways forward. While they agreed many of the healthcare industry regulatory frameworks are too outdated to effectively support AI, most feel hopeful about what the industry can achieve in the coming years.
