HHS Reorganizes Technology, Cybersecurity, Data, and Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Policy Functions

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced a reorganization to enhance its focus on technology, data, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity strategy. This consolidates responsibilities for policy and operations under the newly named Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ASTP/ONC). This move aims to streamline operations, improve governance, and strengthen the department’s capabilities in advancing healthcare technology and cybersecurity. Key roles such as Chief Technology Officer, Chief Data Officer, and Chief AI Officer will now drive HHS’s strategic approach to these critical areas.

Greenlight’s aim aligns with HHS’s goal to improve healthcare through innovative technology and data solutions.
