HHS proposal would require health IT contractors to meet data exchange standards

The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) has issued a proposed rule which would require providers and health plans that contract with the department to use HHS data exchange standards. The proposed rule aligns with the overarching objective of advancing healthcare interoperability. With the recent announcement of the HHS reorganization and the expanded role of ONC, the proposed rule would apply to all programs or grantees connected to HHS funding.

The Greenlight ecosystem works to create increased interoperability for providers, insurers, researchers, and patients. We believe that creating a cohesive healthcare environment where data exchanges are seamless and secure will generate impactful changes and experiences. As HHS finds new ways to promote interoperability within their own processes and those who contract with them, we are sure the healthcare industry will continue to build more cohesive systems that impact the field on a wider basis.
